Registration form - 2026 Workshop on Ocean-Atmosphere Challenges

Why join this workshop?
Ocean-atmosphere research, at the heart of societal issues, is structured around priorities established in particular during the Ocean-Atmosphere foresight exercise, led by the CSOA in 2023. More than 2 years after this foresight exercise, which had defined 6 scientific challenges and 4 priority areas, most of these have now been largely initiated.
Nevertheless, certain questions and methodological approaches are evolving at such a pace that waiting another 3 years could limit the chances of the French community to progress in step with these changes. One can cite in particular the ubiquitous emergence of AI-based methodologies (in modelling, or in data acquisition), which the national SUN programme encompasses, without however the actions in OA being truly visible.
The main objectives of this workshop will focus on:
- a cross-cutting review of actions broken down by scientific challenge and supported by the actions of the PN LEFE (and PN SUN), and large-scale initiatives (PEPR, ANR/PIA, EU).
- the articulation of national programs in relation to ongoing and emerging challenges.
- actions in favour of stabilising the environmental footprint of research, from the observation perspective, with the implementation of OSSEs.
- the identification of emerging challenges requiring a focus over the coming years, particularly in relation to newly recruited researchers.
- cross-cutting dialogue between research infrastructures and users, in particular younger researchers, to better promote the services produced by the IRs in the OA field.
- and of course to share and discuss the science being carried out in our laboratories.
